ABOUT JOHN

A native Iowan, John grew up in the Des Moines area and is proud to practice law in the community that raised him. John became a lawyer to meet people in their time of need – helping them to navigate situations that are often among the most emotional, overwhelming, or complex that they might face.

John attended Drake University, where he earned both his undergraduate and law degrees through an accelerated program. Prior to joining the Firm as a law clerk, John gained experience on both sides of the courtroom by clerking for a large defense firm and then a plaintiff’s side solo practitioner, showing him how cases are built and tried from all angles.

While in law school, John also worked as a strategic management consultant where he partnered with both for-profit and non-profit organizations to develop plans that brought their visons for the future to life. That work gave John a first-hand understanding of how organizations operate and make decisions, which he draws on daily.

John is versatile and process driven, allowing him to practice across a wide range of legal matters including personal injury, civil rights, business litigation, and trusts and estates. John takes a personable and pragmatic approach to the practice of law – his clients get an attorney who cares deeply and is committed to reaching the outcome that serves them best.  

Outside the office, John is an avid golfer and a die-hard New York Yankees fan. He loves spending time with family and friends by watching movies, playing board games, and enjoying good food.
